Racism and the use of the term Racist

Post by Grey on Tue Feb 06, 2018 10:44 am

Lately, I have noticed a rise in cases where the term "racism" and "racist" are used incorrectly.

First, when did the definition of "racism" change from being a display of the assumed superiority of one race over another? Second, when did directing an insult towards someone of a different race than your own become a racist act, even when the insult is not racially based or motivated?

Third, when did it become "racism" to value "good breeding", even when such is not based on race but instead on upbringing and quality of parental background and temperament? Would such a position not simply be elitist at best?

Bigotry is power.

The more you can make someone do something you want them to do by labeling them as some form of bigot, the less you have to do to get something you want.

It really is as simple as that and in todays age, more are willing to believe such accusations then to find out the truth.

And even then when the truth comes out, Social Justice then dictates if you should be guilty or not based on your beliefs.

I feel it is loosely tied-in to the Facebook effect: people are hyper-informed and resentful that everyone else is having a beautiful life except for them.

And because it would be too much for some people to own their share of responsibility in how their life is turning out, they need a scapegoat. And social media is now engineered to reinforce your particular biases, so you end up friending everyone who thinks like you and that little bubble resentment turns to anger, the "us vs. them" mentality grows stronger, and soon people dehumanize each other.

Democrats see Republicans as greedy, evil, racists.

Republicans see Democrats as idealistic, socialist, idiots.

Black people see White people as racist Nazis looking to bring back slavery.

White people see Black people as unfairly benefited by a politically correct system that rewards lazyness and punishes hard work.

Feminists see men as evil oppressors who only see them as objects.

In that kind of environment, people are just looking for an excuse to make all their resentment external... their entire experience is tainted by it.

So you get idiots who will accuse you of racism, when, if they really took a good look at the situation from the outside, they would only see one racist...

... the one staring back in the mirror.

And men see Feminists as someone in need of a good shagging.

Very well written Manu.  I think generally you are accurate.
